PART of the A12 junction with the A130 has been reopened after a crash involving three vehicles.

Officers were called to the northbound A12, close to junction 17 at the Howe Green Interchange, at around 1.10pm today.

An update from the Essex Police Control Room at 3.12pm described the incident as a 'serious injury RTC'.

Traffic monitoring service Irnix announced the A12 southbound had reopened at 5.55pm.

It said: "A12 Southbound re-opened, traffic easing, an accident on the opposite carriageway from J18 A1060 (Danbury) to J17 A130 (Howe Green)

"Previous congestion to J19 (Boreham interchange). Sensors show the road has reopened and traffic is now flowing, all major delays have also eased."

National Highways East provided another update at 6.07pm.

It said: "The A12 southbound between J18 and J17 is now open. The A12 northbound within J17 remains closed.

"Traffic is being diverted via the exit and entry slip road at J17. Thank you for your patience, please have a safe onward journey."

Police are asking for anyone who saw anything or has dash cam footage to contact them, as enquiries are still ongoing.
