A FOOTBALL club says it has recieved an apology from a vandal who targeted its football ground in Southend.

Southend Manor FC revealed the positive news after calling on the public to help it stop being 'battered by mindless vandals'.

The club's ground, in Southchurch Park, has been damaged on a number of occasions in recent weeks.

Bosses hope dog walkers in the area may have caught vandals in the act and want them to report information to police.

The football club made its appeal after revealing one of the culprits has cleaned up graffiti they sprayed on a gate and hatch.

“It takes a big person to admit they are wrong and an even bigger person to face up to their actions.

“As a club we have been battered by mindless vandalism over the last couple of weeks.

“Hopefully we have raised enough awareness for this to stop.”

Bosses are urging anyone with information about the recent spate of vandalism at the club ground to contact police on 101.

They added: “As a community we can not allow the minority spoil it for the many.”

“Thank you everyone for your support and kind messages.”
