A WOMAN from Rayleigh has wowed the judges after her audition on Britain’s Got Talent.

Bethan Marshall, known as 'Mary P', on the show got four Yes votes after performing to the Black-Eyed Peas song My Humps as Mary Poppins - much to the judges' surprise.

Bethan lives and grew up in Rayleigh, and runs a princess party company.

She was on the show on Saturday night, where she Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams all voted Yes for an audition that left the audience jumping off their feet.

Bethan, 29, said the whole thing was just a dream: “It was crazy, beforehand in my head I thought they are going to think why on earth are you dressed up as Mary P singing My Humps!

“But the whole crowd just exploded, they went crazy, and it gives you such a boost, as people were laughing, and smiling; it was just amazing.

“I couldn’t believe how nice Simon Cowell was to me as well, all the judges were really lovely. My mum and aunty were in the audience just behind the judges and after I went off the judges were talking to them saying ‘She was so good’."

Bethan first started dancing when she was three years old, and spent her youth performing in dance shows, before branching out into acting and singing.

She has now been singing and performing professionally for 10 years, doing things such as cruises and holiday parks. But Bethan said she is still waiting for her big break.

“My absolute dream is to be in the West End, or a touring show; it would just be dream complete, life made," she said.

“It was quite random how I came up with it, I was really nervous about doing it, as I had never performed this act in front of anyone.

“I have always loved Mary Poppins, and I am a huge fan of Julie Andrews - she is so iconic, so loved by the entire nation.

“It was always a dream to her, but there are hundreds of people who are and have seen her, so I thought what if she has a modern spin.

"And that is how she developed into that kind of cheeky Mary P!”
