SOUTHEND residents are being invited to a Dementia Awareness Day to help improve people's lives.

The day takes place at the Haven Community Hub in Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff, where over 20 stalls will be set out to talk about local services, offer support and give practical advice.

Elizabeth Smith, community engagement manager at Age Concern, the charity running the event, said: "It is hoped the event will encourage people to take action to improve the lives of people affected by dementia.

"As well as the informations talls, there will be taster classes, demonstrations and various workshops running throughout the afternoon, including free health checks, falls prevention advice, carer support services and more."

The event takes place on Wednesday May 18 from 1pm - 4pm.
