A FURTHER seven arrests have been made following reports of people gaining access at the Grays terminal.

Essex Police has made another seven arrests on suspicion of aggravated trespass after protests claim to have blocked a tanker carrying diesel at a terminal in Oliver Road, Grays.

The comes after eight people were arrested earlier today, aged between 27 and 72, also on suspicion of aggravated trespass.

Police confirmed all arrests remains in custody, and the site has now been cleared of people.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We have made a further seven arrests following reports of people gaining access to Navigator Terminals in Grays.

“We had received a call shortly after 11.05pm yesterday (Sunday 15 May) reporting a group of people were on the site in Oliver Road.

“Officers attended and have been there throughout the morning.

“The site has now been cleared of people and a further seven people have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass.

“Earlier, officers arrested eight men and woman aged between 27 and 72 on suspicion of aggravated trespass.

“They all remain in custody.

“Policing is not anti-protest, but we must intervene where there is a risk to life or where there is a suspicion laws are being broken.

“We always work to resolve incidents such as these as safely and swiftly as possible so that our officers can get back to protecting and serving the people of Essex.”
