POLICE attended multiple incidents over the weekend, which saw three men arrested, as a spate of incidents hit the city.

Essex Police’s Operational Support Group (OSG) were out in Southend, dealing with several crime-related incident on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

They attended ten incidents in the city, of which one including a man being arrested on suspicion of assault.

This was following a disturbance in Western Esplanade, and the man still remains in custody as of this morning.

Later in the day, another man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving in Sutton Road, the 35-year-old man has since been charged and will appear in court next month.

Just before 1am this morning, officers we involved in a chase which saw a police vehicle damage, and a man fleeing.

After a short chase, a man, aged in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, failing to stop, and dangerous driving.

He still remains in custody.

An Essex Police spokesman also reflected on the warm weather, adding that a police presence will remain in Southend through the day.

They said: “Our officers will be across the city centre and seafront throughout the day to make sure everyone’s enjoying themselves and using all the facilities the city has to offer safely.

“Enjoy your day in Southend but do so safely.

“Please do not join them in our cells today.

“If you do need us, we will be there to help.

“We won’t tolerate crime, and we are working with our partners at Southend City Council to make sure the city stays safe.”
