TWO men from south Essex who were caught dodging rail fares have been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds.

Jamie Charles, 27, was caught without a valid ticket between Blackheath and Lewisham stations in London back on September 30 last year.

The cost of the ticket was £2.80.

Charles, of Puckleside, Langdon Hills, was ordered to pay the fare during a hearing at Barkingside Magistrates Court, as well as a £220 fine.

He was also ordered to pay a further £169 in costs.

Taylor Brett, of Jones Close, Southend, had also be fined £220 for failing to have a valid ticket when travelling on a train from London Victoria.

Brett, 26, failed to pay the £20.20 fare back on October 1 last year.

His case was also dealt with by Barkingside Magistrates Court which ordered him to pay the fare on top of the fine.

Brett was also ordered to pay £169 in costs.
