A CYCLIST has been left with a serious head injury after a hit and run. 

Essex Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident in Royston Avenue, Southend, on May 11, at around 4pm.

A dark-coloured vehicle collided with a cyclist aged in his 20s, who was left with serious head and facial injuries.

The car did not stop at the scene.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Southend which left a cyclist with serious head and facial injuries. 

"Thankfully, the cyclist’s injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing. 

"The car did not stop at the scene. We have no further details of the car and we would like anyone who witnessed the incident or has any footage of it to get in touch.
