A disabled music group must get it's own specialist facility, says a Southend MP.

Anna Firth, Tory MP for Southend West spoke out about the need for a home for the Music Man Project in the House of Commons.

It was part of discussion about the levelling up fund, Government cash aiming to boosting productivity, pay, jobs and living standards by growing the private sector.

Mrs Firth MP said: "In Southend we have an international award winning performance charity for people with learning disabilities. The first of its kind in the world and I am grateful to the ministers for engaging with me regarding this project.

"Founded by the remarkable David Stanley BEM the music man project oversees global network of special needs music educators from Southend to South Africa.

"Despite being an international beacon for disability potential, the Music Man Project does not yet have a specialist permanent facility of its own.

"There could be no more deserving project for levelling up fund than to take this once ignored community from isolation to opportunity."
