A PERVERT was caught with a home video of himself carrying out sex acts on his pet dog and a catalogue of vile indecent images of children.

Callum Vere, 20, also sent videos of children being sexually abused to others online in a bid to “access friendship with like-minded people.”

Vere, of Easton End, Basildon avoided jail at Basildon Crown Court yesterday due to his autism and attention deficit order. But the judge insisted he “must understand the impact these offences have on children.

He was charged with three counts of possessing indecent images of children, three counts of distributing indecent images of children and possession of extreme pornography.

David Baird, prosecuting, said: “He admitted the seven offences in the magistrates’ court. Police raided his home on September 6, 2020, and he was not at home so police went to his place of work and took him back to the property.

“There were a reasonably large number of images and videos of child sex abuse and a video of him sexually abusing a dog.

“Mr Vere also had a caution for a similar offence in May 2018.”

Mitigating, Vittoria Trigilio said he suffered conditions which means he assessed pressure from others differently and felt remorse differently too.

She said: “He has significant vulnerabilities in various aspects. He is abnormally compliant with instructions and sees pressure being applied in a different way.

“He’s been working with a number of organisations for offending but also for conditions like this.”

Sentencing Judge Samantha Cohen said: “You have attention deficit disorder and autism and you have been working with organisations which help you realise the impact this offence has on the children.

“It seems to me this is a case where you downloaded the images for sexual pleasure and send them to others to access friendship with like-minded people. Some of the images showed children aged as babies to 14 years old who were in obvious pain and distress.”

Vere was handed a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years.

He was also ordered to complete 60 days of rehabilitation, a sex offender treatment programme and 120 hours’ unpaid work. A sexual harm prevention order was made for ten years and he will be subject to the notification requirements of the sex offenders register for ten years.
