A PRE-SCHOOL hailed for its “positive and calm approach” has retained its Outstanding Ofsted rating.

Hawkesbury pre-school, in Long Road, Canvey, achieved top marks in all areas following a recent inspection.

Inspectors were full of praise for the bond the children and staff had.

Their report stated: “Children thoroughly enjoy attending this bustling pre-school, where they thrive in staff’s expert care.

“They confidently communicate their needs, wants, and ideas, knowing they are valued and treated with the utmost respect.

“Child build strong bonds with staff and show they feel safe and secure.

“They benefit from the consistent and calm approach from staff, who provide children with lots of praise and encouragement.”

At the time of inspection there were 64 children at the pre-school, all aged between two and four.

Parents were full of praise for the pre-school when questioned by inspectors, with many highlighting the “high quality care” on offer to children.

The report added: “Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the experiences their children enjoy at the pre-school.

“They comment about their child’s safety and the high-quality care and education they receive.

“Parents add they receive lots of information about all aspects of their child’s learning and development and how to support ongoing learning at home.

“Staff’s nurturing approach that helps children settle and form strong bonds is also praised by the parents.”

This was the second consecutive Outstanding rating for the pre-school from Ofsted.

Manager Susan Riches is hopeful she and her team can continue meet the high standards they have set.

She said: “We are absolutely delighted that we maintained our Ofsted rating of Outstanding.

“Our highly experienced and dedicated staff work so hard and know precisely the stage of development of every child, nurturing this so that each individual child's needs are met.

“We hope to continue working to this standard and make sure we provide exceptionally high-quality care and learning.
