The south Essex magistrates have been busy again with a range of cases.

Here's our latest round up of cases in front of the magistrates.

David Hopkins, 76, Greenways, Rochford was in court for driving without reasonable consideration for other persons using that road.

On November 13 in Hawkwell he drove a car without reasonable consideration for other persons using Rectory Road, in that he appeared to be using the roads central markings as a guide to drive along the road. The defendant appeared to be driving cautiously along the road. The defendant was braking when vehicles approaching in the opposite direction came into view. As the Defendant approached a traffic light it turned from red to green the defendant braked nearly stopping. The defendant then drove past the green light.

He was fined £255, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, pay costs of £110 and his driving record endorsed with 6 points.

On the same day and location he drove a car otherwise than in accordance with a licence authorising him to drive a motor vehicle of that class.

There was no separate penalty.

Deniss Clarke, 75, of Oldwyk, Basildon is due to stand trial over allegations of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

It's alleged that on June 1 in Basildon, he allegedly attempted to unlawfully and maliciously cause grievous bodily harm to a man with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.

The case has been sent for trial to Basildon Crown Court on July 1 and he was kept in custody.

Hamed Farage, 23, of London Road, Southend is due to stand trial over allegations of drug dealing and allegations of having articles for use in the course of or in connection with burglary.

It's alleged that on June 2 in Southend, he allegedly had in his possession 10kg of cannabis with intent to supply it to an unknown person.

The matter has been sent for trial to Basildon Crown Court on July 1. He was granted bail on the following conditions: a curfew where he must stay at the address from 7pm to 7am, he must not contact directly or indirectly co-defendants, he must surrender his identify card to Southend Police Station by July 1 and not apply for travel documents, and he must report to Southend Police Station between noon and 1am on Tuesday.

It's also alleged that on the same day and in Southend he allegedly not being at his place of abode, had with him articles for use in the course of, or in connection with burglary, namely 3 Crowbar type objects and 2 secretors.

The matter was sent for trial at the same court on the same say and he was granted bail under the same conditions.

Ryan Allen, 28, of Station Road, Westcliff was in the magistrates court for driving without due care and attention.

On November 9 2021 in South Benfleet he drove a car without due care and attention in that he failed to notice vehicle in front had slowed for traffic and struck the vehicle, causing damage and slight injury.

He was fined £440, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £44, pay costs of £110 and his driving record endorsed with 5 points.

Sharon Hilton, 59, of Tinkler Side, Basildon was in court for driving without due care and attention having driven the wrong way down a one-way road.

On July 28 2021 on Canvey she drove a car without due care and attention in that they deliberately made contact with pedestrians at low speed, knowingly performed a turning manoeuvre with pedestrians in close proximity and have driven the wrong way down a one-way road.

She was fined £85, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and her driving record endorsed with 3 points.

Michelle Jeffreys was in the magistrates court over a driving offence.

On August 02 2021 in Southend she drove a car and failed to comply with the indication given by a traffic sign specified as subject to obligatory endorsement, namely a red light traffic signal, lawfully placed on or near a road, other than a motorway, namely The vehicle was recorded contravening the red traffic light 4.1 seconds after the signal had changed to red.

She was fined £40, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, and her Driving record endorsed with 3 points.

It was alleged that on September 3 in Billericay having been required by or on behalf of the Chief Officer of Police for Essex, she allegedly failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

This Offence was withdrawn.
