c2c bosses have warned of further delays tomorrow as rail strikes are set to cripple train services in south Essex this week.

Major interruption is planned throughout the week on all c2c routes as a three-day rail strike is expected to cause chaos across Essex.

Today is day one of the three-day strikes taking place this week on June 21, 23, and 25.

Members of the Rail, Maritime and, Transport (RMT) union at Network Rail and 13 train operators, including c2c, are striking in disputes over pay, jobs, and pensions.

This is the biggest rail strike in three decades and bosses are advising all passengers to only travel if it's absolutely necessary.

Rob Mullen, managing director of c2c, said: “We have been doing all we can to prepare for and mitigate the impact of industrial action, but these strike days will severely impact the service we can deliver for our customers.

“No one wins in the event of industrial action, and this will impact those who rely on the railway for work, education, and leisure.

“We encourage our passengers to consider if their journey is essential, work from home if they can, and if they must travel, make sure they plan ahead and check their journey.”

And c2c is warning of more delays tomorrow, with services across the network set to start running later at around 6.30am with a full service planned to be in operation by 8am.
