Laindon pensioner terrorised by man banging on her windows

Jackie Gregory, 65, is extremely worried about her elderly mum who she claims has been harrassed over the past two weeks by a "man in a van".

Jackie says the man has been continuously knocking on her mum’s door, shouting that her gutter is broken and offering to repair the damage for £5.

The matter has now been reported to police who have confirmed an investigation is underway.

The man is said to have returned to the address in Laindon on a number of occasions, despite being told his services are not needed.

The most recent incident was just days ago when the man banged on windows early in the morning after Jackie's mum refused to open the door to him.

Her mum, who asked to remain anonymous due to safety concerns, has been left shaken by the whole ordeal.

Jackie said: “The first time he knocked, she couldn’t get to the door, but the second time she managed to answer it.

“My mum politely declined and told him to leave, but he continued on, she then shut the door on him.

“He then turned up again on Sunday morning at 7:30am ringing the doorbell, banging on the front doors and even the windows.

“It has frightened the life out of her and really upset her, it is horrible for her to be terrorised in her own home.

“It is scary being old as it is, let alone being targeted by sad individuals who don’t take no for an answer.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We received reports of a man acting suspiciously in Nicholl Road, Laindon, on Sunday 19 June.

“Our officers have provided safety advice to a resident and enquiries are ongoing.
