A NEW dessert parlour is set to open in Leigh, with excitement building among residents about its arrival.

Flavours Gelato, an ice cream shop, is opening in Eastwood in July as the company expands to create its third branch.

It will be located in Rochford Corner, in Rayleigh Road, Eastwood, next to a new Peri Peri takeaway and restaurant which is also opening soon under the same management.

The company has two other branches in Jamaica Road, London, and in Green Lane, Dagenham, which have proved popular.

Kimberley O’Connell, 47, from Eastwood, has three sons who are all very excited about the new ice cream parlour.

She said: “It is fantastic news, as the area is often forgotten about.

“It is fabulous to see these empty buildings being used too.

“My sons are very excited, and I think they are going to bleed me dry with it opening soon.

“I expect we will be in the queue on the opening day.”

The unit it is filling has been vacant for a while, which is music to the ears of Paul Collins, councillor responsible for the Eastwood Park ward, which is where the new shop is located.

He said: “It is great news; I am very delighted that another business is coming and will be supporting the community by opening the ice cream shop.

“The shop has been empty for a while so it is good it will be filled.

“There is also nothing like this nearby either, so it is exciting.

“I can’t wait to get down there and try it ourselves once it opens.”

The menu is set to include items such as waffles, crepes, pancakes, and cookie dough, as well as a range of ice creams and topping for visitors to choose from.

A spokesman for Flavours Gelato said: “Yes this is true, we do have a new store coming to Southend.

“This is our third store of Flavours Gelato, and we are hoping to be open by the middle of July.
“We are also opening a peri-peri store next door too.”
