A drink driver who was caught behind the wheel in Southend while over the limit was also in charge of a child, a court heard.

Gabriel-laurentiu Nicut, of West Road, Shoebury, was stopped by police in Southchurch Road on March 24 and found to have 86 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Nicut also admitted at Southend Magistrates’ Court to being drunk in charge of a child under 7.

The 23-year-old has been banned from driving for three years, must abstain from consuming any alcohol for 120 days and carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.

He also gave false information about who he was and attacked an officer.

For the assault, he must pay £340 in fines.
