THE mother of Archie Battersbee admits she is delighted her family have won their appeal against a High Court ruling.

The Court of Appeal has ordered the High Court must reconsider its verdict that Archie, 12, is “dead” and therefore must have his life-support turned off.

Following yesterday’s ruling, his mum, Hollie Dance, insisted it was “brilliant” to see the three Court of Appeal judges listen to her concerns about turning off Archie’s life-support, adding the hearing could not have gone “any better”.

The 46-year-old from Southend said: “I am absolutely delighted and it’s the first time since the incident that it’s been put across that this is just about Archie.

"It really touched my heart and is so good to see this.

“We now need to speak with our legal team and work out the next steps but there will be another hearing.

“I got the feeling it was coming across very fair in the court room yesterday.

"It was just a very different vibe and I was feeling positive as the case progressed and was held.

“The fact they were recognising it’s all about Archie really helped to lift my spirit.”

Miss Dance has long insisted Archie should be given more time to recover from an incident which has left him unconscious for nearly three months.

He was found unconscious by Miss Dance at their home in Southend on April 7.

Miss Dance has previously revealed Archie has squeezed her hand while lying in a coma at the Royal London Hospital.

She claims Archie is continuing to show signs of recovery, despite experts claiming he is likely “brain-dead”.

She added: “He is doing brilliant and is taking his food well and is putting on weight.

“He is being more responsive.

“He responds to make it clear he doesn’t like bath time and he never did.

“His heartrate is also changing and went up the other day when I called so he responded to the sound of my voice.”
