A driver who was caught behind the wheel while more than twice over the legal limit for alcohol has been handed a hefty fine.
Simon Day, of Vaughan Williams Road, Basildon, was stopped driving in Vaughan Williams Road, with 103 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 - more than twice the legal limit of 35 - on February 2.

Day denied the offence, however it was proved in absence at Southend Magistrates’ Court on June 13.
The 51-year-old has been fined £840, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £84 and prosecution costs of £310.
On top of that, his driving record has been endorsed with 10 points.
