There are lots of fun things to do this weekend, why not kick things off with a Fairytale Weekend at Adventure Island?

Running on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 July kids can dress up for a fun-filled Fairytale Weekend with free themed entertainment and face paint.

On Saturday, 31 disabled artists will disrupt 30 locations with surreal interventions to mark the 102nd anniversary of the first Dada International Exhibition, featuring satirical and nonsensical artwork.

At Focal Point Gallery, Kristina Veasey will present A Complete Basket Case, a series of screenings and a performance to challenge rhetoric about disabled people during Covid times.

Screenings and performances will take place throughout the day between 11am and 5pm.

Blast from the past on Saturday with an Amy Winehouse Tribute Show will run at  The Billericay Theatre, 34 Radford Way. The show is a tribute to one of the 21st century’s true greats. Sammy B will be performing the tribute show and there will be table service and food served from the theatre menu throughout. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Take an insightful walk around Southend on Saturday and discover fascinating historical war stories. Starting at the Cliffs Pavilion at 1pm and running until 3.30pm, they will start the walking tour by looking at the battle of the Thames Estuary and how the spot was part of the anti-aircraft measures to defend London. They will make their way to the Palace Hotel where they will talk about its use in WWI as a Red Cross hospital.

Hinguar Primary School and Nursery will have their summer fair on Saturday from 11am to 3pm. It will be a fun filled day with inflatables, mini golf, real owls, food stalls, face painting, slushy stall, ice cream, entertainment, ghostbusters, princess appearance, fire engine (subject to emergency call outs), Artillery Association, games, gift stalls, hot food, refreshments (including something for the adults) and inflatables. It costs £5 all day.

Southend Vegan Fair will run at the Ekco Social and Sports Club on Sunday, 3 from 10am to 5pm.

Expect loads of great vegan food, animal rights stalls, clothing, health products and makeup products!
