Detectives investigating the death of Simon Dobbin have arrested a seventh person.

Simon was left with permanent brain damage after being assaulted in East Street in Southend following a Southend United vs Cambridge United match on March 21, 2015.

Sadly, at the age of 48, Simon died on October 21 2020.

Medical tests showed there was a direct link between his death and the injuries he had sustained.

As a result of those conclusions, we began treating his death as a homicide.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday last week (June 27).

He has since been released under investigation.

It follows the arrest of a sixth man, aged 29, on 10 June.

He and five other men - aged 30, 34, 39, 45 and 27 - who were also arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday, June 10 have also been released under investigation.
