South Essex magistrates have seen a number of cases of cannabis possession.

Here's our round up of the south Essex defendants who have been sentenced for drug possession.

Shane Elliott, 25, of York Road, Southend was in court for cannabis possession.

On August 26 in Southend he had in his possession three grams of cannabis.

He was fined £120, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and costs of £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service. An order was made for the cannabis to be forfeited and destroyed.

Nathan Plummer, 30, of Southchurch Avenue, Southend was in court for cannabis It was alleged that on November 26 2019 in Southend he allegedly had in his possession a quantity of cannabis.

This offence was amended. This entry was replaced by offence number two.

On the same day and in the location he had in his possession a quantity of cannabis.

He was fined £120, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and costs of £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

An application was made for benefit deductions and the sum to be recovered is £259. An order was also made for the cannabis to be forfeited and destroyed.

Tafari Brown, 43, of Czarina Rise, Basildon was in court for possession of cannabis.

On June 25 in Colchester they had in their possession a quantity of cannabis.

They were fined £80, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, pay costs of £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service. An order was also made for the cannabis to be forfeited and destroyed.

James Harman, 35 of The Nave, Laindon was fined for possessing cannabis at a train station.

On August 19 at Benfleet Train Station in Ferry Lane he had in his possession a quantity of cannabis.

He was fined £220, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and pay costs of £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service. The court ordered for the drugs to be forfeited and destroyed by Essex Police.

Darren Davis, 38, of Eastbrooks Mews, Pitsea was sentenced in the magistrates court for a cannabis offence.

On April 23 in Basildon he had in his possession a quantity of cannabis.

The court fined him £80 and ordered he pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and costs of £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

An order was also made for the cannabis to be forfeited and destroyed.

Elizabeth Wilks, 30, of Witchards, Basildon was in court over cannabis possession.

On July 21 2021 in Basildon she had in her possession a quantity of cannabis.

A community order was made. The defendant must comply with the following requirements: a maximum of 20 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days and 60 hours unpaid work.

She was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £95, pay costs of £145 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

An order was also made for the cannabis to be forfeited and destroyed.
