Councils across south Essex have changed and altered bin collections due to the weather and heatwave.

As temperatures are set to hit the high 30's across Essex today and tomorrow bin collections are starting earlier and some crews will even be revisiting roads they collect in at earlier times later in the week.

Rochford District Council and Basildon Council are among the authorities to draft in the changes.

Rochford District Council Bosses say collections will start at 6am today and tomorrow and on Wednesday crews will return to streets where bins were collected before 7am.

A spokesman said: "Our crews are working extremely hard to continue to empty your bins. Due to the expected heatwave waste collections will start from 6am on Monday July 18 and Tuesday July 19, so that the crews are able to take regular breaks for shade and water.

"It is requested that residents put their bins out for collection before this time. On Wednesday, a crew will be revisiting the roads that were collected before 7am on the Monday and Tuesday. This is to address any bins that residents were unable to present before the usual time of 7am.

"We apologise for any inconvenience that this service disruption may cause to residents."

A spokesman for Basildon Council said: "In light of the red 'extreme heat' weather warning we're adjusting our waste and recycling collection schedules on Monday and Tuesday so our keyworkers avoid the hottest parts of the day

"Your waste and recycling will still be collected on your usual day, but we may collect earlier or later than expected."
