A FLAVOUR of the Mediterranean has arrived in Benfleet and is already causing a stir among food fans.

Marble Restaurant, in 9-15 high-street, is a family-run business serving foods from across southern Europe.

The family running the new eatery have around 15 years’ experience in the industry working as chefs, as well as experience in marketing and customer service.

They say they hope to use their knowledge to go “above and beyond” people’s expectations.

Olivia Worobec, business administrator, said despite the restaurant only opening on Tuesday, the reception has been “amazing”, both in person and on social media.

She said: “The reaction has already been overwhelmingly positive, with many residents just wishing us success and luck, which deeply touches us.

“The phone is ringing, we have received several messages and comments on our social media, it is just incredibly kind to have such support already.

“It has certainly been a long road to get the restaurant ready for people to enjoy, but to finally be open, in the summer, it is the perfect time.

“We are so, so excited.”

The restaurant is mainly influenced from Greece, Italy, Lebanon, and Turkey; all with the chef’s unique touch.

It offers both dine-in and a takeaway service and is open from 12pm until 11pm every day.

The menu has more than 75 options for different types of starters, main courses, vegetarian options, and house specials.

The name, Marble, was inspired by Marmara Island in the Sea of Marmara, between Greece and Turkey.

Ms Worobec explained how the name reflects their unique restaurant, and its aims.

She said: “A town in Marble, is famous of its marble, and the history, culture, and geography, due us to the name.

“As marble is a beautiful name stone used for breath-taking foundations that endure through time, in the same way we aimed to create our restaurant, something customers will be able to enjoy for years to come.

“We will serve fresh, delicious, and flavourful Mediterranean cuisine with a range of classic favourites and well-known dishes but with a chef’s unique touch.”
