New data has revealed the best rated GP surgeries in south Essex according to the patients that use them.

The results of the GP Patient Survey 2022 were published after questionnaires were sent out to patients at surgeries across the Southend, Basildon and Castle Point areas.

The survey measures experiences of patients across a range of topics, including making an appointment, access to online services and out-of-hours services.

Ashingdon Medical Centre in Rochford has been named the best in south Essex according to patients, with an overall good rating of 96 per cent.

It was one of just four surgeries across Southend, Basildon and Castle Point to have an approval rating of above 90 per cent overall this year.

The other five best rated surgeries were: 

Scott Park Surgery in Southend - 93 per cent overall good rating

Riverside Medical Centre in Hullbridge - 91 per cent overall good rating

Greensward Surgery in Hockley - 90 per cent overall good rating

= Downhall Park Surgery - 89 per cent overall good rating

= Western Road Surgery in Billericay - 89 per cent overall good rating

The Leigh Surgery - 85 per cent overall good rating

At the other end of the table, Clayhill Medical Practice in Vange was the lowest rated in south Essex as just 41 per cent of patients described their overall experience as good.

The other five worst rated surgeries were: 

St George's Medical Practice in Benfleet - 48 per cent overall good rating

Eastwood Group Practice in Leigh - 50 per cent overall good rating

North Shoebury Surgery - 51 per cent overall good rating

Aegis Medical Centre in Basildon - 53 per cent overall good rating

Noak Bridge Medical Centre in Basildon - 54 per cent overall good rating
