A Recycling centre and country park are to stay closed today following the finding of a body over the weekend.

Wat Tyler Country Park, in Pitsea, was first closed on Saturday with a police cordon put in place, and still remains closed today.

Pitsea Recycling Centre was first closed on Sunday and is also still closed to the public.

The closures come after a body was found in Wat Tyler Country Park at the weekend.

Garry Bennett, 36, was charged with murder as part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of 30-year-old Madison Wright.

Madison Wright, a mother from Basildon, had not been seen or heard from since Friday, July 22.

The formal identification process of the discovered body is yet to take place, but Madison’s family has been informed.

A statement by Wat Tyler Country Park said: “We remain closed today, August 2.

“We are deeply saddened by what has happened in our park and we continue to assist the police with their enquires and investigation.

“We will update with an opening date soon.”

Essex County Council dittoed the statement for the Pitsea Recycling Centre stating “Pitsea Recycling Centre remains closed today, August 2.

“Please use another recycling centre.”
