Threats were made to harm a man at a Canvey petrol station, sparking an investigation and appeal for information from the public.
Officers attended the incident at the Esso petrol station in Somnes Avenue on the island yesterday afternoon.
The force is now appealing for witnesses to come forward and speak with police.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called to reports of a disturbance in Somnes Avenue, Canvey Island at 2.55pm on Tuesday 2 August. It was reported threats had been made to harm a man in his 40s.
"Enquiries are ongoing. If you have any information, CCTV, doorbell or dash cam footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us. Please quote the crime reference number 42/203278/22.
