CHALKWELL Fair is back in town with all the favourite attractions as well asnew rides for 2022. It is set to run daily until Saturday August 13 from 1pm to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 1pm to 8pm on Sunday.

Charlotte Box, who works at the fair, said: "What makes the fair so special is finally being allowed to go ahead after lockdown rules. There are also various cheap days with rides and entertainment as little as £1."

The reduced price days run on Monday August 8 and Wednesday August 10 where entry will be £1. All the gate profits going to Southend Mencap.

  • There will be Music in the Park with Avanti and Dixielanders at Priory Park on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 from 3pm to 4.30pm. The popular event at the band stand is a perfect way to while away the afternoon in the sunshine. No chairs will be provided so bring your own or a blanket. There is also limited parking at the park.
  • From the wheel to the world wide web, via the toilet flush that made Queen Elizabeth blush, Justin Coe’s brand new show The Gift of the Gadget is coming to Kent Elms Library, Eastwood on Saturday. Celebrating the weirdest, wackiest and most wondrous inventions ever, Justin will be experimenting with comedy, rhyme and a ridiculous pair of balloon shoes. He will help people channel their inner-genius to conjure up some crazy creations of their own. It is good funfor ages five to 11 and their families. The show will run from 11am to 12pm and tickets cost £3, available at Kent Elms Library welcome desk.
  • Ellis Leisure are hosting an inflatable funday for childrenof all ages to come and enjoy themselves at Priory Park. There will be a range of inflatable fun and visitors can expect to see up to 70ft assault course, large interactive bouncy castles, and giant mega slides as well as gladiator duels. There will also be a football arena and football darts and more. There will also be an area dedicated to smaller and less confident children, so everyone can enjoy the day. This area will contain a range of smaller inflatables and soft play.
  • Enjoy the sound of the 80s on Saturday 6 August from 7.30pm at the Canvey Island Conservative Club at Fielder House, 59 Long Road, Canvey Island. There will be music from the decade from the likes of Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Tears For Fears, Madonna, and more. The Total 80s is a theatre show is performed by sevenpiece band, and has a party atmosphere sure to get the crowd dancing.
