HM Coastguard Southend officers coorindated a search along the foreshore east and west of the last reported location with RNLI Southend Lifeboat hovercraft tasked to search the mudflats one mile out.

Eventually one teen was seen coming ashore east of the reported location with the two remaining teenagers then reported west of the location on marine parade.

A Coastguard spokesman said: "All three were reported well and in no need of any medical assistance and were very apologetic for causing any fuss. The most important thing is that they were all found safe and well."
