FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a “deliberate” grass fire in a popular Southend park.
Crews were called to Garons Park in Southend yesterday afternoon following reports of a grass fire.
On arrival, at approxmiately 5:45pm, firefighters confirmed that approximately two hectares of grass and heathland were alight.
Essex Fire believe the fire may of been deliberate.

Two crews from Southend and one from Shoebury tackled the blaze for almost an hour.
They used hose reels and water backpack to extinguish the fire by 6:20pm.
A spokesman for Essex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews were called to grass fire in Garons Park in Southend earlier today.
"We believe this fire may have been caused deliberately.”
