YOUNGSTERS got a confidence boost after a week of fun outdoor activities.

From archery and raft building to high rope, school leavers had a week of a lifetime.

The event was organised by Southend United Community and Education Trust, in collaboration with NCS, for 16 to 18 year olds who had finished school.

Billy Appleton, who is a coach for Southend United Community and Education Trust, and assistant leader Tom Johnson, were there to make sure the week went smoothly.

“Some of the youngsters were really shy at the start and then by the end, when everyone had bonded, they were like different people,”

said Billy.

“They are all still friends now and that week made a big difference to them.”

The youngsters headed to the ExTREEme Adventure in Norfolk and took part in activities such as archery and raft building.

When the group returned they spent a week at Roots Hall to come up with ways to engage with people on positive mental health.
