MORE than £1,000 was raised at a garden centre’s charity fundraiser.

Perrywood Garden Centre, in Tiptree, held a fundraiser for Abberton Rural Training.

A total of £1350 was raised from ticket and raffle sales.

The team at the garden centre served 60 customers freshly made sandwiches and scones.

Perrywood has chosen Abberton Rural Training as one of their charities of the year.

The educational charity provides practical and skills training alongside therapeutic support and mentoring to the residents of Essex and surrounding areas.

ART chief executive officer Jacqui Stone said: “We are so delighted with the support from Perrywood, not only with hosting this event, but also for their support with plants and materials for our participants to use for their learning, and for providing to us a highly skilled and effective trustee in their operations director, Tristan Bourne.

“Sixty people in Essex now know more about our charity, our work and who we support.

"Connections made at the event mean that we now can help a couple of people identified with our programmes and raise awareness of the issues facing so many vulnerable and isolated or disadvantaged people across our county.”
