The three crews, from Southend, Rayleigh and Leigh, then worked quickly to extinguish the fire by 8.54am.

Station Manager, Mark Elliott, said: "I want to thank our fantastic control team who provided vital safety advice to keep the family safe while we made our way to the incident yesterday morning.

"I’d also like to praise the crews who worked really hard to prevent the fire from spreading through the house.

"Unfortunately, the family have been left homeless as a result of the fire, but we’re pleased to report that nobody was hurt."
