Passengers are advised to check before they travel this August Bank Holiday as Network Rail is set to carry out track, signalling and overhead wire works.

Works will take place from Saturday August 27 to Monday August 29 and includes overhead wire work between Barking and Pitsea as part of the overhead wire renewals programme on the line between London and Shoebury.

Points works will also be carried out between Fenchurch Street and Barking.

Rail replacement bus services will be in place and passengers are advised to check before they travel.

Ellie Burrows, Network Rail’s route director for Anglia, said: “We’re carrying out renewal and upgrade works across the network to improve reliability and prevent delays now and in the future.

“Passengers are advised to check before they travel. I’d like to thank passengers for their patience while we carry out this essential work.”

There will be no rail replacement bus service for the Stansted Express service between Stansted Airport and London on Saturday August 20 and Sunday August 21 and on Monday 29 August due to high demand for buses.

Passengers are advised to make alternative arrangements to get to Stansted Airport.

c2c’s managing director Rob Mullen, said: “The work Network Rail is carrying out over the August Bank Holiday is essential in keeping services running safely and reliably in the longer term.

"Some of our services will be operating differently than normal with rail replacement in operation on parts of our route. We would ask that our customers check before they travel over the summer bank holiday.”

C2C trains will be affected as follows:

Fenchurch Street to Shoebury via Ockendon (Sunday only)

Due to points works between Fenchurch Street and Barking, services will be diverted to Liverpool Street and will call additionally at Stratford but will not call at West Ham.

Further to this until 7am engineering works will be extended out to Upminster and services will start/terminate at Upminster. Passengers should use London Underground services to complete their journeys.

Due to Network Rail undertaking overhead line renewal between Upminster and Pitsea and access for all schemes at Ockendon and Grays, these services will be diverted via an alternative route between Upminster and Pitsea and will call additionally at Laindon and Basildon but will not call at stations via Ockendon or Tilbury.

Rail replacement will be in operation between Upminster and Pitsea via Ockendon and Tilbury.

Ticket acceptance will be in place between Upminster and Tower Hill on District Line services and between Stratford and West Ham on Jubilee line services.

Fenchurch Street to Shoebury via Rainham (Sunday only)

Due to Network Rail undertaking overhead line renewal between Barking and Grays, these services will not run.
