A MAN was assaulted in East Beach last night just metres away from an ongoing music festival.

Essex Police is appealing for information following the attack at about 8.30pm.

Footage of the incident has circulated on social media and appears to show a man being attacked by another man, who appears to punch him repeatedly while his on the floor.

Both men had fled the scene before police arrived; no arrests have been.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We are aware of a video circulating online of an incident in Shoebury. 

"An incident was reported to us by colleagues in the ambulance service in East Beach, shortly before 8.30pm last night, Sunday, August 14. 

"It was reported that a man had been assaulted by another man. 

"Both men are then reported to have left the scene. 

"We arrived and carried out a search of the area but could not locate a victim or a suspect. 

"Anyone with information about the incident, or who has footage of it which has not yet been passed to us, is asked to contact us as soon as possible.
