A MAN who strangled a work colleague for sexual kicks has failed to persuade judges his sentence was too harsh.

Lee Newman, 36, formerly of Hillhouse Close, Billericay, was handed an indefinite sentence of imprisonment, after he was convicted of attempted murder in May 2006.

Newman challenged the sentence at London's Appeal Court. However, Lord Justice Latham said there was "nothing wrong with the sentence imposed" and rejected his appeal.

The prosecution had claimed Newman's attack was fuelled by "sado-erotic" fantasies suggested he had attacked another woman.
