Here are the south Essex criminals who have been jailed in the crown courts this months.

From sex offenders to false rape claims the crown courts have seen a range of cases and handed out some tough and long jail sentences.

A PAIR of dealers who were found to have a loaded handgun and drugs worth thousands of pounds during a series of raids in Basildon have been jailed.

Klodjan Doci, 26, was part of the dealing operation despite having been previously deported. Fellow dealer Dennis Hoj, 31, used a fake name to go under the radar, Basildon Crown Court was told.

Doci, of Courtney Park Road, Langdon Hills, admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of cannabis and possessing criminal property.

He was jailed for a total of three years and two months. Hoj, of Norwood End, Basildon, admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine and being concerned in the supply of cannabis. He was jailed for a total of three years and four months.

A “VIOLENT and nasty” sexual predator who abused a teenager was jailed for 12 years.

Stephen Flynn, was jailed at Basildon Crown Court for a string of vile sex offences which took place in south Essex over an 18-month period.

The 52-year-old was sentenced for seven counts of child sexual abuse and a charge of child cruelty following a fourday trial at the same court in April.

Flynn was jailed for 12 years and will serve a five-year extended licence period.

A DANGEROUS driver being chased by police dragged an officer and steward along by his motorbike after being ordered to stop along Southend seafront, a court heard.

The officer and steward had been trying to detain Romaie Simpson, 23, when he pulled them along for a short distance during the popular motorbike event, Southend Shakedown.

The steward was left with a broken knee following the incident back on April 18.

Simpson, of Sutton Grove, Sutton, admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with his licence during a court hearing earlier this year.

Simpson was jailed for causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was also disqualified from driving for three years.

A MAN who sexually assaulted and raped a 15-year-old girl who was on her way home from school has been jailed.

Seya Mohammed, of Clayburn Circle, Basildon, was found guilty of two serious sexual offences including rape following a trial at Chelmsford Crown Court.

The 19-year-old was arrested on November 28 last year after his victim reported that she had been raped while walking home from school in Harlow two months earlier.

He appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court where he received a six-year custodial sentence in a Young Offenders Institute.

He will spend a further three years on extended license.

Mohammed was also issued with a restraining order and put on the sex offenders register for life.


A THIEF punched a police dog repeatedly while holding its head underwater after being chased from the scene of a break-in at a car parts business.

Alexandu Chefor, 31, attacked the dog after it repeatedly bit him when he refused to stop for police after they were called to a break-in in Rochford on July.

Chefor, of Primrose Field, Harlow and his co defendant Nelutu Stanga, 45, both of Romanian descent, were sentenced at Basildon Crown Court.

Both admitted theft, going equipped for theft and criminal damage to property valued under £5,000. Chefor also admitted causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal and Stanga admitted possession of a bladed article.

Chefor was jailed for eight months after being sentenced to six months for each of the three counts, to be served concurrently, and two months for breaching his suspended sentence.

Stanga was handed a community order and ordered to carry out 100 hours unpaid work.


A woman who made a series of false rape claims leading to 60 investigations has been jailed following work by specialist detectives. Cathy Richardson made a series of allegations against two men between January and May last year.

These allegations led to officers carrying out 60 investigations. Richardson, 35, of North Road, Westcliff, was arrested on May 28 last year and later charged with perverting the course of justice.

She admitted 10 counts at Salisbury Crown Court on May 23 this year. At the same court she was jailed for five years and one month.

A 73 year old pervert attempted to meet a 13 year old girl for sex, before being arrested with a bag for life containing rope, sex toys and a box of chocolates, a court heard.

Peter Durrant, of Blenheim Close, Leigh, was jailed for two years and four months, with a judge telling him that “children deserve to be protected from people like him”.

He had travelled to Ipswich after several weeks of online chats with an undercover police officer posing as the step father of a teenager called “Riley”, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

During the chat, which started in October last year, the undercover officer told Durrant that he had had sexual contact with the girl and that he’d kept it quiet from his girlfriend, said David Baird, prosecuting. Durrant told the officer what he wanted to do to the girl and said “the younger the better”.
