Hundreds of pounds worth of food and drink was stolen from a property in a burglary in Stanford-le-Hope.

Officers were notified of an alarm activation at a property in High Street at around 4.30am on Friday September 30.

It was reported that the property had been broken into at the rear and an estimated £400 of food and drink taken.

Essex Police says officers quickly attended and arrested a man nearby on suspicion of burglary and the property was recovered.

The 37-year-old man from Grays has been released on bail until Friday 21 October.
