THREE people have been released on bail after a road rage incident saw a car crash into a tree in Basildon.

The A176 Upper Mayne was closed in both directions for almost 12 hours after an incident on Monday night.

A police cordon was also put in place along the Basildon road.

It was due to an incident where a man was injured following a crash.

It was reported a car left the road and collided with a tree following an interaction with another car.

After crashing into a tree, the driver of the second vehicle reportedly drove at the car that had crashed.

As a result, a man was taken to hospital. 

Three were then arrested on suspicion of GBH and suspicion of GBH with intent and criminal damage.

All three have since been released on bail until next month.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We are investigating an incident where a man was injured following a collision in Upper Mayne, Basildon shortly before 11.40pm on Monday 10 October.

“It was reported a car left the road and was in collision with a tree following an interaction with another vehicle. The driver reported a second vehicle was driven at him.

“He sustained serious injuries to his shoulder and was taken to hospital for treatment.

“A woman has been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent while two men have been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and criminal damage.

“They have been released on bail until next month.

“Our enquiries are ongoing.
