South Essex magistrates have seen a number of cases involving driving and south Essex residents this month.

Here's our round up of the south Essex drivers who in court for driving offences.

Gary Smith, 48, of Beeston Court, Basildon, was in Basildon Magistrates Court for driving offences on Friday October 7.

On June 21 in Brentwood he drove a car at a speed exceeding 70 miles per hour.The speed recorded by means of a calibrated speedometer remained constant at 90 mph mph for a distance of 0.7 miles. He admitted it and was remanded on unconditional bail until December 2 in Basildon Magistrates Court for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

On the same day and in the town he drove a the car when the proportion of a controlled drug, namely Benzoylecgonine, in his blood, namely not less than 541 micrograms of analyte per litre of blood, exceeded the specified limit.

He admitted it and was remanded on unconditional bail until the same date at the same court for the same reason.

Brett Osborn, 41, of Highwell Gardens, Hawkwell, appeared in Maidstone Magistrates' Court on September 1 for driving offences.

On September 11 2021 in Dartford he drove a car at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour and the speed recorded by means of an automatic camera device was 57 miles per hour.

He was fined £200 and his driving record endorsed with 3 points.

On September 25 2021 in Sheerness he drove a car at a speed exceeding 70 miles per hour and the speed recorded by means of an automatic camera device was 82 mph.

He was fined £300.00, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and pay costs of £90.00 and he was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 6 months.

Laurence Lenihan, 60, of Mornington Road, Canvey was in Maidstone Magistrates' Court on September 1 for speeding.

On July 24 2021 in Dartford he drove a motor vehicle, at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour and the speed recorded by means of an automatic camera device was 57 miles per hour.

He was fined £40, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and pay costs of £85.

He was also disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 14 days.

Rolandas Danusas, 37, of The Gore, Basildon appeared in Medway Magistrates' Court on September 1.

On February 10 in Dartford he drove a car at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour and the speed recorded by means of an automatic camera device was 59 miles per hour.

He was fined £220, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, pay costs of £90 and his driving record endorsed with 3 points.

Toby O'Brian, 51, of Giffords Cross Avenue, Corringham, was in Medway Magistrates' Court on September 1.

On February 11 in Westerham he drove a vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour and the speed, recorded by means of automatic camera device, was 52 mph.

He was fined £186, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, pay costs of £90 and his driving record endorsed with 3 points.

Genna Heath, 37, of Rose Street, Benfleet appeared in Medway Magistrates' Court on September 1.

It was alleged that on January 3 in Chatham she allegedly drove a vehicle, at a speed exceeding the legal limit of 30 miles per hour and the speed recorded by means of Automatic Camera Device was 40 miles per hour.

This offence was withdrawn.

On February 7 in Maidstone, having been required by or on behalf of the Chief Officer of Police for Kent Police, she failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence of exceeding the 30mph speed limit, travelling at 40mph .

She was fined £660, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £66, pay costs of £90 and her driving record endorsed with 6 points.
