As Southend's Halloween parade returns next weekend a number of roads are set to be closed.

Restrictions will be in place in a number of roads on Saturday October 29 from 4pm until midnight, or the conclusion of the event, as the Halloween parade takes place along Southend seafront. 

Here are the roads affected and restrictions in place:

  • Eastern Esplanade from the junction with Victoria Road to meet Marine Parade - Prohibition of traffic, waiting, loading, unloading and parking
  • Marine Parade from Eastern Esplanade to Western Esplanade - Prohibition of traffic, waiting, loading, unloading and parking
  • Western Esplanade from Marine Parade to the junction with Shorefield Road - Prohibition of traffic, waiting, loading, unloading and parking
  • Southchurch Avenue from the junction with the roundabout to the junction with Eastern Esplanade - Prohibition of traffic, waiting, loading, unloading and parking
  • Lucy Road - Suspension of one-way traffic and introduction of two-way working
  • Herbert Grove - Suspension of one-way traffic and introduction of two-way working
  • Pleasant Road - Suspension of one-way traffic and introduction of two-way working
  • Pier Hill - Suspension of one-way traffic and introduction of two-way working
  • Royal Terrace - Suspension of one-way traffic and introduction of two-way working
  • Royal Mews - Suspension of one-way traffic and introduction of two-way working

There are also a number of upcoming road closures and roadworks which are set to take place in south Essex.

- Leighton Avenue in Leigh will be closed for one day on October 30

- Botney Hill Road, Little Burstead, is closing from its junction with Tye Common Road/Clock House Road to its junction with Hatches Farm Road for one day on November 14

- Elder Tree Road & Central Wall Road, on Canvey, will close southbound from east of the junction with Harvest Road. The closure takes place for two nights (7pm to 5am) from October 31.

- A number of Canvey roads are closing for 54 days from November 7.

Lionel Road will shut from its junction with Furtherwick Road to its junction with Fairlop 
Avenue.

Stuart Close will close from its junction with Lionel Road. Haron Close will also close from its junction with Lionel Road.

Convent Road will be shut from its junction with Lionel Road to its junction with Long Road.

Merlin Court will close from a point about 65m north of its junction with Lionel Road to its end.

Beatrice Avenue will shut from its junction with Lionel Road and Thelma Avenue will close from its junction with Waarem Avenue.

- Pitsea Hall Lane, Pitsea, is closing from its junction with Terminus Drive from 6am to 8pm on October 30.

- Southfalls Road, on Canvey, will be closed from its junction with Point Road to its junction with Approach Road for 19 days from October 31.

- Rayleigh Avenue, Westcliff, will close from its junction with Hamlet Court Road to its junction with Salisbury Avenue, both sides, from October 24 to November 3. This will be enforced in stages.
