Roads in Southend are experiencing slow moving traffic as residents and visitors flock to the Halloween parade.

Residents are flocking to Southend seafront already and traffic is building in the area as the Halloween parade is set to fully kick off at 6pm.

There will be dozens of acts and puppets which will create a memorable procession of light and colour.

A photo from Essex Travel News shows slow moving traffic in the city, with traffic building on Victoria Avenue (Southbound) between East Street/West Street and Queensway.

It is a free event and takes place tonight from 6pm until around 7.30pm.

The parade starts at the Eastern Esplanade before ending by Roberto’s at the Western Esplanade.

All the acts will head along the Marine Parade so visitors can see the parade anywhere between those parts of the seafront.

Parking is expected to fill up quickly at Fairhead’s Green near the Sealife Adventure, Seaway Car Park, Royal’s Shopping Centre, Clarence Road, Tyler Avenue, and Alexandra Street.

The Western Esplanade Bays parking will be suspended to allow for the parade to go ahead.

The Halloween Parade includes around 50 community acts, such as Mandinga Arts, Rampage, Southend Ghostbusters, as well as the return of the amazing Spark! Drummers!

There will be music, dancing, lights, and also giant puppets, with the first giant spider puppet by Tom Davies coming to the Southend parade.
