A drink driver caught in a Basildon supermarket car park while more than three times over the legal limit has been fined.

Gerald Chalker, of Landermere, Basildon, was caught behind the wheel in Asda car park with 114 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35.

The 69-year-old admitted the offence when he appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on October 18 and was fined £120.

He was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and £105 prosecution costs.

His driving record has been endorsed with 10 points.
