A LANE on a major Benfleet roundabout has been closed while crews work to repair a burst water pipe.

The inside lane on Sadlers Farm roundabout has now been closed after it flooded this morning following a burst water pipe.

Essex and Suffolk Water say crews are on site working to repair the pipe, but traffic management has been put in place to allow them to carry the work out safely.

Currently is it just a single lane closure, however, it has not been ruled out whether more lanes could close if needed.

No homes are affected by the burst water pipe and Essex and Suffolk Water are yet to put a timescale on the repairs.

A spokesman said: “Our crews are on site at Sadler’s Farm roundabout, working to repair a burst water pipe close to the carriageway.

“Traffic management is being put in place to allow us to carry this out safely.  We will be working to minimise the disruption to motorists by keeping this to a single lane closure if it is safe to do so, endeavouring to keep two lanes open if possible.

“We are still assessing timescales for the repair and traffic management and there are no homes with water affected.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused to motorists and will provide updates on Twitter at @eswater_care.”
