Nathan Meadows, who worked at the store from 2005 until 2015, said he has some of the best days of his life there.

He said: “It was the place to be on a weekend.

“With a bustling high street, loads of bands playing in several venues across the town, it was always thriving with musicians young and old, all coming in for a nose around.

“The tills would be ringing; the banter would always be loud and proud.

“We had some of the best days of our lives there.”

Scully Ward added if it wasn’t for PMT she wouldn’t be a musician

She said: “I did my work experience there, it became like a hangout and place to visit on Saturdays.

“I also have found memories of my late dad taking me there to choose my first electric guitar.

“Really sad times.

“If it wasn’t for PMT, I would not be a professional musician, currently between France, Switzerland, Spain. and the UK.”

The PMT Southend music shop with the first store PMT ever opened, all the way back in 1991.

Chris Archer said: “Really sad times.

“I have been on their journey right from the start and been a customer since the early days in the half shop in London Road where I bought my Ovation twelve string.

“Since then, I have bought countless guitars, amps, and deals.

“It kept my poor, but it was a blast!

“End of an era.”

Lesley and Steve Wanderers added: “A very sad day when this fabulous shop closures.

“We, the Wanderers, have spent many hours here over the last 20 years, buying equipment, instruments, and getting great advice on it all.

“The staff have always been friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable and will be greatly missed.”
