A man has appeared in court charged with murder following the death of a victim who was found seriously injured.

Perry Coulson, 38 of Lesney Gardens, Rochford, appeared in Southend Magistrates Court this morning.

Essex Police officers were called to an address in Lesney Gardens, Rochford, shortly after 8.30am on Friday after receiving reports of an assault.

Upon arrival, officers found a man in his 30s had sustained a serious injury, but despite the best efforts of the emergency services he died at the scene.

Coulson appeared in the dock with short saved hair, wearing glasses and a grey jumper and grey jogging trousers.

He didn’t enter any plea at the hearing.

He spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address. Prosecuting, Samah Abdullah, said: “The victim suffered a single stab wound to the abdomen. Mr Coulson tried to dispose of the knife in a car park near some flats. We are asking for this matter to be sent to Basildon Crown Court.”

Speaking to Coulson, Avril Miller, chair of the magistrates bench, said: “Mr Coulson this is being sent to Basildon Crown Court for trial for the offence of murder. The next court date will be November 30 for a preliminary hearing.”
