If you are looking for unique gifts, artisan food and pretty festive trinkets, there are loads of Christmas markets in south Essex to visit.

* Billericay Christmas Market runs on Sunday 4 December, from 11am to 5pm where market will take over the town’s high street.

* Meadow Croft Garden Centre German Christmas market in Battlesbridge is a huge German market which runs every year. There are ornaments, scarves, candles, authentic cuckoo clocks at the 30 stalls. It runs until Thursday December 23.

* There will be a market in Back Lane for the Rochford Christmas Lights on Sunday, December 4, from 1pm to 6pm. Visit ww.rochfordchristmasfestival.co.uk.

* On Sunday December 4 there will be the Stanford LeHope Christmas Market from 1pm to 7pm, with a Christmas tree festival and light switch on.

* Scotts of Southend garden centre have a festive market up until 24 December from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm and Sundays 10am to 4pm. See www.scottsofsouthend.co.uk.

* The Monico Christmas Fair will have some festive stalls at the event taking place on Saturday December 3, 2pm to 10pm, at Canvey Island Seafront. It will raise money for the charity Bobby’s Big Heart Bobby’s Big Heart. There will also be a Santa appearance, rides, food and drink, tribute acts, Leigh Beck School Choir, Canvey Junior School Choir and fancy dress competition. See www.visitingcanvey.co.uk for details.

* There is a Christmas market on Sunday December 4, from 11am to 4pm at Festival Leisure Park Festival Way, Basildon. There will be homeware, jewellery, food and more on offer. See www.festivalleisure.co.uk.

* St John’s Christmas Fair will run on Saturday December 3 from 10am to 3pm. The Langdon Hills church will have 30 stalls and an interactive Nativity story as well as a Santa appearance.

* Aveley Christmas Market will run on Sunday December 11 from 11am to 4pm on high street where there will be a range of goods on offer. For details search Aveley Christmas Market on Facebook.
