A driver has been arrested after a crash in Benfleet knocked out power to hundreds of homes.
Just before 5pm on Tuesday (November 29), police received reports of a crash in Lynton Road, Benfleet.
A black Mercedes had crashed into an electricity pole, knocking out power to all households in the immediate area.
More than 630 UK Power Networks customers in three postcodes across Benfleet and Hadleigh lost power as a result of the crash.

The driver, a 41-year-old man from Leigh, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving, no third-party insurance and no driving licence.
He has been interviewed and bailed whilst police continue with their investigation.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "If you were in the area at the time and have dash cam footage or other information, please call us on 101 or report online, quoting 0863 of the 29th November."
