THE chief executive of a council mired in a £469m funding black hole has resigned.
Thurrock Council’s Lyn Carpenter has resigned from her position as chief executive, council leader Mark Coxshall told a cabinet meeting last night.
Ms Carpenter, whose annual salary is listed on the council website as more than £180,000, has been on extended leave since September.

The Conservative council leader told cabinet a new chief executive would be appointed early next year.
The councils facing a £469m budget shortfall in the next financial year.
Thurrock finds itself in financial turmoil having lost £275m from investments it made in solar energy firms.
The council borrowed hundreds of millions of pounds from other councils to invest and now has a debt of £1.5bn.
