A Westcliff pub where a dad was killed in a fatal attack will remain shut until after the funeral, bosses have announced.

The Lamb and Lion Pub in Station Road will remain closed until after the funeral for Dave Peck, 51.

The pub also announced on social media a procession will start and finish from the venue.

"The funeral is to start and finish at the lamb and lion, at the families request the Lamb will then open its doors once more. All of the plans laid are subject to change of course so please keep updated on our Facebook page.

It comes after Alfred Turner, 44, appeared in Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday in connection with the death of Dave Peck last Friday.

The Just Giving page reads: "West Ham Dave as he was fondly known was assaulted on Friday December 23. This resulted in him passing away shortly after. We are raising money for his family on his behalf after this tragic event."
