Dozens of drivers were stopped and three vehicles were seized in a police operation at Festival Leisure Park.

As part of Essex Police's drink and drug driving crackdown campaign, specialist officers were in Timberlog Lane and at Festival Leisure Park in Basildon on Friday (December 30).

A total of 74 vehicles were stopped, 59 breath tests were conducted, three vehicles were seized and 12 drivers have been reported for offences.

A number of drivers were stopped for exceeding the speed limit in Timberlog Lane, and four of those will now face speed awareness courses or a £100 fine and three penalty points.

The worst offenders were driving at 40mph and 43mph, exceeding the 30mph limit.

A Ford driver was reported for having his vehicle in a dangerous condition.

A Nissan was also seized because the driver only had a provisional licence and the driver of an MG had failed to insure their vehicle.

All three drivers now face prosecution, fines and penalty points.
